GMI Architects (founded as Graham/Meus, Inc. Architects) was established in 1980 to provide planning, architecture and interior design services. The founding principals, Gary Graham and Daniel Meus, have enabled GMI’s maturation into a sophisticated facility oriented professional service firm. GMI believes that solutions to design problems evolve from a thorough understanding of their clients’ unique character and requirements. They believe the means to a higher level of understanding requires input and involvement from the community of users of the institutions, organizations, and individuals they serve. Each new project is a unique design experience that requires a fresh perspective which is measured against GMI’s extensive previous experience.

GMI has been invited to design projects from Massachusetts to California, Minnesota to Florida. The firm is comfortable working in collaboration with local or regional design organizations for architectural, engineering, technical, regulatory, and site specific requirements.

GMI’s reputation for process and service is augmented by a competent and thorough technical staff. They produce superb documentation utilizing advanced CAD and graphic programs. Additionally, they have a strong commitment to work plan, budget and schedule. GMI received a special award from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for having initiated the State’s incentive bonus program for a project which later received a DCAM Honor Award for Design.

GMI has been recognized for design excellence from their regional chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and from publication of their work in architectural and professional journals. GMI’s design work reflects an unusual concern for place and purpose. They believe that the design process must balance aesthetics, performance, and function, against site, mission, and budget. GMI is proud to be a technologically advanced smaller firm, with strong design, service and production capabilities.
